Day 2

Departure for your destination early in the morning. Once in Chicago, enjoy some free time for lunch before going on a discovery walk and seeing the immense garden that is Grant Park, a municipal park dating back to 1844. Within the park, you will be impressed by Buckingham Fountain and the Millenium Park, a park within a park, which is dedicated to art and the new millennium. Next, take a stroll on Navy Pier, the famous pier built between 1914 and 1916 to accommodate Great Lakes ships. Museums, street shows, restaurants and the many shops of Navy Pier follow one another for more than a kilometer along the shores of the gigantic Lake Michigan. Take a ride on the Ferris Wheel, a giant Ferris wheel located on the dock. In the evening, board The Loop, a skytrain that circles Chicago’s business district. The Loop was once a Streetcar line (1882) and is the second oldest transportation system in America, after New York. Installation at your suburban hotel at the end of the evening. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.

Explore Chicago’s internationally renowned architecture seen from the eponymous river and also from Lake Michigan. Next, head to the Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science center in the Western Hemisphere. Deepen your knowledge and explore exhibits of all kinds: German submarine, coal mine, hall of mirrors, bicycle artifacts, futuristic innovations, and more. Then, after dinner, climb the Willis Tower, Chicago’s tallest skyscraper. From the Skydeck Observatory, admire the impressive perspective of the city. Your fourth day begins with a visit to Lincoln Park Zoo. Established in 1868, the Lincoln Park Zoo welcomes each year more than 3 million visitors who come from all over to see more than 1,200 animals. After lunch, visit the Field Museum. Built in the 1920s, this Greek temple-like building is an important museum of natural history and ethnology. You will have access to 35 permanent exhibitions on the themes of animals, cultures, the environment, fossils, minerals, mummies … so many subjects that will interest all students!
