Trip plan

Day 1

Take the road to the Gaspésie in the morning and stop en route for lunch. Experience the change in the St. Lawrence River, which passes quietly from an estuary to a gulf: an increasingly pronounced breeze of salt air will let you know that you are approaching the gulf, which Gaspesians affectionately call “the sea”. In Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, located just at the opening of the river to the Gulf, discover the organisms and animals that hide in the waters of our precious St. Lawrence. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, meet more than 1,000 individuals of 60 different species at the Exploramer Aquarium Park. You will also have the chance to touch several species in the pools. Check into the hotel in the early evening after a good dinner at the restaurant. Meal included: dinner.

Day 2

Wake up early for a day of adventure at the end of the world! After lunch, take the road back to Gaspé – or the “end of the earth” in Mi’kmaq – to visit the Musée de la Gaspésie and the Jacques-Cartier monument. Learn more about the history of the Gaspésie through exhibitions recounting the meeting of European civilizations with the Native Americans of the place, as well as all facets of Gaspésien history and heritage. After lunch, finally get ready to reach the “end of the world”, the nickname given to the tip of Forillon National Park. Enjoy an unparalleled view during a hike on the park’s trails along the cliffs of Gaspé Bay. You may have the chance to admire many animals in their natural habitat: moose, foxes, porcupines, seals and whales. The sight you will have along the way of the horizon and the banks will not make you want to leave; however other adventures await you. Return to the center of Gaspé for a dinner at the restaurant and settle in to your hotel. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.

Day 3

Start your day with an interpretive tour with a character at the Cradle of Canada Historic Site in Gaspé. The site highlights the three founding nations, the Mi’kmaq, the English and the French, and offers you the opportunity to meet certain characters from history, such as Jacques Cartier. Visit an original heritage residence as well as six reconstructed buildings that will give you the impression of being in the heart of the village of Gaspé in 1900. Now head to Percé for lunch and board a boat for an excursion to Percé Rock and Bonaventure Island. You will have the chance to admire the rock up close as well as the largest northern gannet colony in North America! Disembark on the island of Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé National Park before returning to Percé. Back on dry land, stroll freely in the village where shops, restaurants and various businesses await you. Now is a great time to shop for souvenirs and dine out in small groups of friends! Installation at your hotel in the evening. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.

Day 4

After a good breakfast, departure for Carleton-sur-Mer. Stop at Pointe Tracadigash to admire the magnificent scenery of the city, Baie-des-Chaleurs and the Carleton peninsula where the Pointe is located. Climb into the lighthouse, dip your feet in the salt water, watch the birds in the barachois … Fill up on wonders and beautiful moments before heading to the restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, take the road back to your school and stop for dinner. Meals included: Breakfast.
