Trip plan

Day 1

Departure for Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean aboard your coach. When you arrive in the region, the adventure begins at the Trou de la Fée Cave Park. Follow a 1.5 km hiking trail along the Métabetchouane River with its waterfalls and the remains of a hydroelectric power station that will lead you to the 68-meter cave formed in the granite. Explore the cave and meet an intriguing little flying mammal: the bat! Then go to Val-Jalbert for a GPS geo-rally in the heart of the historic village. Using a GPS, find treasures hidden throughout the village. Installation at your hotel in the evening. Meal included: dinner.

Day 2

After a good breakfast at the hotel, discover the Innu cultural heritage at the Amerindian Museum of Mashteuiatsh. Erected in 1977 on the banks of the Pekuakami (Lac Saint-Jean), the museum’s mission is to safeguard the Ilnu cultural heritage, to foster its development, promotion and transmission to future generations. Students will discover this culture by visiting the exhibitions in addition to attending a documentary screening. Then, discover the North American nature at the Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien. On board the wire-mesh transportation, admire the majestic moose, the herd of musk oxen, the pack of wolves, and more! Also enjoy a multisensory show or a movie at the zoo cinema. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.

Day 3

After preparing the luggage, head to La Baie and visit the Fjord Museum. This museum is simultaneously a laboratory, a living museum and a place of learning, observation and discovery. It is a window as wide as the horizon, which opens directly onto a breathtaking setting: that of the prodigious Baie des Ha! Ha! and the Saguenay Fjord. It is a mirror turned towards Saguenay society, the pioneers and the events that forged its history. Also visit the museum’s Aquarium where you can observe more than 650 specimens found in the fjord and in the St. Lawrence River. Finally, end your adventure in Alma with thematic activities or an educational program with the Odyssey of the Builders museum. Located in an exceptional heritage environment, it exhibits the great moments of the construction of the Isle-Maligne power station: the excessiveness of a site then considered to be the eighth wonder of the world. Get back on the road to your school at the end of the afternoon and stop en route for dinner. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.
