Trip plan

Day 1

Morning departure to Thetford Mines. Start your journey with an educational program at the Minéro mineralogical and mining museum. You can explore the subsoil of the Appalachians and discover the Quebec, Canadian and world mineralogical repertoire. Then move to Frampton to visit the famous Miller Zoo, the wildlife rehabilitation center featured on the TV show: Un zoo pas comme les autres. Through the educational mission of the zoological garden, getting to know animals better will make students aware of respect for wildlife. You will also have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the 150 or so animals of 60 different species by walking along the hiking trails, leading you to their respective natural environments. In the evening, end your day in Lévis at the Laser Game Évolution. Defend your team through a maze with sounds and lights where you must also deactivate your opponents. Who will be able to lead his team to victory? Installation at the hotel at the end of the evening. Meal included: dinner.

Day 2

Start this second day of travel in the region with an activity at Maison Alphonse-Desjardins. Visit the family residence of Alphonse and Dorimène Desjardins, founders of the credit union of the same name, and experience a historical re-enactment of 1906 in which students will immerse themselves in the time and explore the life of the peasants and townspeople of that time. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of Fort-Numéro-Un-de-la-Pointe-de-Lévis. Built between 1865 and 1872, the forts of Lévis were to protect Quebec against an American invasion. Walk through dark vaulted tunnels, discover underground shooting rooms, a powder magazine and pillboxes. Then, head down the river to the Science Bunker. With an activity similar to the famous escape games with puzzles and solutions, become chemists and physicists in order to save humanity! In underground labs, figure out how to restart society one experiment at a time. Then, after dinner in a restaurant, enjoy some free time in Old Lévis for students to discover a charming neighborhood. The Paquet quay where the fountains and the unparalleled view of Quebec and its castle will enchant you. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.

Day 3

For the third day of your journey, just follow the river east to discover a site unique in Canada, the Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site. Embark on the Croisières Lachance boat in Berthier-sur-Mer and let yourself be transported to Grosse-Île. Located in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, Grosse-Île was once the main gateway to Canada and served as a quarantine station for the port of Quebec from 1832 to 1937. Explore the rich Irish heritage of the island and learn about the history of the island’s scientific and medical progress. Back on the south shore of the river, end your Chaudière-Appalaches adventure in Islet-sur-Mer, at the Musée maritime du Québec. Founded in 1968 by the Association of Sailors of the St. Lawrence Valley, the Maritime Museum today presents a collection of more than 15,000 artefacts, maps, books and ancient documents. You will discover museum boats, a rowboat presenting wooden boats typical of this region of the river, a model room with more than 200 scale models of boats, temporary exhibitions with maritime themes, a river park, and much more! Meal included: Breakfast.
